200 nonprofits learn latest fund sourcing trends and strategies in the 3rd Fund Raising Congress
More than 200 non-governmental organizations, foundations, churches, and local and international charitable and development agencies participated in the 3rd Fund Raising Congress at the Mandarin Oriental Suites, 4th Level, Gateway Mall Cubao, Quezon City last September 3 and 4, 2008.
The 3rd Fund Raising Congress was officially opened by Venture for Fund Raising Board Chairman Jasen Ko.
Organized by Venture for Fund Raising, the country’s leading fund raising consultants, the biennial event discussed the latest fund raising trends and strategies which would help non-profits get more resources for their development and disaster relief projects.

Dr. Ned Roberto, the country’s marketing guru, led the array of resource speakers who were renowned experts in the fields of donor service, market research, direct mail, overseas fund raising, marketing and communication, among others. Atty. Alex Lacson, author of the bestselling “12 Little Things Every Filipino Can Do to Help Our Country” delivered an inspiring keynote address which challenged the participants to have a deeper nationalistic perspective in their fund raising and poverty alleviation efforts. |
The Country's Marketing Guru, Dr. Ned Roberto, presented the Results and Application of the 1st Nationwide Survey on Giving.
The Congress also featured a convention, where participants learned from interactive sessions with the experts; an exhibit, where booths of products and services relevant to the non-profit sector were showcased; and the Kyra Awards, where the best practices in fund raising were recognized and given cash awards.
A total of 20 entries were submitted for the Kyra Awards this year. Criteria for judging emphasized return on fund raising investment, meeting of fund raising targets, increase in donor base and creativity of the campaign entries which were implemented between the years 2006-2008. Judges for the 3rd Kyra Awards are: Dr. Ned Roberto, who is the Chairman of the Board of Judges; Ms. Cosette Romero, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Fleishman-Hilliard International Communications; Mr. Gulliver Go, Business Development Consultant and Venture for Fund Raising Fellow; Ms. Marlene Ochoa, Vice President for Communication of the Manila North Tollway Corporation; and, Ms. Felicidad Soledad, Executive Director of the Philippine Council for NGO Certification.

All Kyra winners received a P50,000 cash prize, while World Vision received P75,000 for winning the highest award – the Kyra-Reconnect Award of Excellence in Fund Raising.
The two-day 3rd Fund Raising Congress was supported by Cordaid, Reconnect by MRM Worldwide, The Philippine Postal Corporation, Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation, Gakken (Philippines), Inc. and PesoPay eBigay. The Philippine Daily Inquirer and 98.7 dzFE helped promote the event.
