To kick-off our second set of back-to-back fund raising workshops in celebration of Venture’s 25th anniversary, we held an insightful one-day workshop titled The Science of Fund Raising: Monitoring and Evaluation. This workshop was intended to build on our previous courses, the Basic Course on Fund Raising #76 and the Art of Engagement: Donor Management, held last June 2024.
The main goal of this workshop was to empower participants with the skills to effectively track and assess their fund raising activities through data-driven insights. To enhance this experience, we encouraged attendees to bring along donor and donation data from the past two to three years, allowing them to dive deep into various metrics during the sessions.
The day began with sessions led by our Executive Director, Ms. Pinky N. Medina. She provided a quick refresher on the fundamentals of fund raising, ensuring that all participants shared a common understanding. Ms. Medina then highlighted the importance of monitoring and evaluating fund raising performance, transitioning to practical strategies for implementing these processes and emphasizing the critical role of data mining.
In the afternoon, our Deputy Executive Director, Ms. Kiel S. Fernandez, presented the diverse metrics involved in fund raising monitoring and evaluation. Participants explored general nonprofit metrics, donor relations metrics, giving level metrics, engagement metrics, and strategy-specific metrics.
Our facilitators emphasized how these metrics play a crucial role in effective fund raising planning, laying the groundwork for the follow-up workshop the following day, which focused on Fund Raising Planning.
Attendees were given handouts and templates to bring back to their organizations, ready to enhance their campaigns for the coming year.
